St. Catherine Church will host the “Divine Mercy Crusade” on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Sponsored by the Eucharistic Apostles of Divine Mercy of Honolulu, the crusade will take place throughout the state from April 11-22.
Father Santan Pinto, SOLT (Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity) is the special celebrant for the evening mass. His homily will focus on “Truth and Divine Mercy.” There will be a healing service followed by benediction and veneration of the Divine Mercy Image and relic of Saint Faustina, canonized recently by Pope John Paul II.
Pinto was born in Gurajat, India, and joined the Jesuits after completeing high school. He obtained a master’s degree in social work and was first appointed as an ordained priest to the missions in Ahmednagar District in Maharashtra. After leaving the Jesuits in 1982 he came to New York in 1987, working in Queens at two parishes. After joining SOLT in 1988, Pinto now lives in New Mexico and has conducted many retreats and healing services in the United States, Canada, Italy, England and Ireland. He has also spoken at Marian and Eucharistic conferences in the U.S. and conducted pilgrimages to Lourdes, Fatima, Medjugorje and Jerusalem. He has authored several books including “Prayers in Your Life,” “Steps in Littleness,” and “Dust on a Flea’s Back,” a religious book for children.
