Sunday, 35 people attended the first monthly Vegan potluck luncheon of the Vegetarian Society of Hawai‘i. The potlucks will continue on the first Sunday of each month at the Kapa‘a Neighborhood Center. The prize for the best dish went to Vigil Alkana’s original recipe for “Raw Desert Pate.”
The judges were Mark Reinfeld, co-founder of the Blossoming Lotus and Vegan Fusion Restaurant and Jennifer Murray, co-owner of Blossoming Lotus LLC, Mark Reinfeld, author of “The Seven-Minute Chef, Simple Tools for a Lifetime of Health” will be the next speaker on Sunday May 6 at noon. The class will introduce you to some of the topics in Reinfeld’s latest e-cookbook.

Raw Desert Pate
Vigil Alkana
3/4 cup organic sun flower seeds
1/4 cup organic raisins
1 tsp Braggs Liquid
2 tsp olive oil
1/2 tsp All Spice or to taste
Add a squirt of lemon or lime juice. Add distilled water for desired consistency. Add all ingredients gradually in a blender. Blend until smooth.
