KAPA‘A — The Kapa‘a Warriors will open the second round by hosting the Waimea Menehune to a double-header at the Ron Martin field starting at 10 a.m.
Kapa‘a, who finished the first round 1-5, cannot be counted out as they’ve missed the services of centerfielder and lead-off hitter Travis Nakamura in several key games against Waimea (2-4).
In that absence, Kahai Nakano has stepped up to the plate, engineering several key double plays defensively.
In Kapa‘a’s March 21 skirmish against the Menehune, Nakano engineered two double plays and continued by sparking another two double plays against Kaua‘i in the Warriors’ March 28 matchup.
Cody Goias has been strong on the mound, and if the Kapa‘a timber can start singing, the Warriors may just have something to talk about around the bases.
Game time is 10 this morning at the Ron Martin field.
Anahola Joel Pahukula will be doing the live play-by-play for the second game on KQNG AM570 starting from around 1 p.m.
