Penny Nichols will be teaching six art classes for adults and teens this summer at Island School. Nichols is an O‘ahu native who has lived on Kaua‘i since 1974. Well known for her portraits and landscape paintings, she was a guest artist with the Department of Education’s Artist-in-the-Schools Program for 10 years and has taught art at Island School for the last seven years. Her artwork is in many private collections and has been purchased by the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
“I enjoy helping people develop the tools they need to express themselves,” said Nichols, in a press release. “My classes are designed for students at all levels of experience and I encourage beginners to attend. We’re going to have fun.”
