Borrero holds first football meeting

Newly appointed head football coach Derek Borrero announced he will hold the team’s first meeting Thursday, 7 p.m. at the Kaua‘i High School cafeteria.

It will be the first annual meeting for the coaches, players, parents and the Booster club.

Borrero said he will introduce his staff and explain the expectations for the year and it will also be a way for the everyone to move forward into the new season.

“This whole thing with coach Morgado has been really painful for people at Kaua‘i High School,” Borrero said. “This will start the healing process. The healing begins on Thursday.”

Borrero was promoted to the head football coach position on March 21. Borrero had previously been the junior varsity head coach.

Borrero takes over for Keli‘i Morgado, who had been the head coach for the past eight years.
