Round 1 of the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation’s baseball season is close to an end, and Waimea High School faces a crucial game tomorrow against Kaua‘i High School (3-0).
This week’s win over the Kapa‘a High School Warriors, put the Menehune at 2-2 for the season.
Waimea must win the double-header to stay in contention for the first round.
Splitting the games won’t hurt the Menehune too badly, but then they’ll need a little help from Kapa‘a.
If Kapa‘a defeats Kaua‘i Wednesday, Waimea will still be in the running.
A Kaua‘i sweep will give them the first round title.
Anahola Joel Pahukula will broadcast the second game of the Saturday double-header starting from about 1 p.m. on KQNG AM570.
• In KIF tennis, tomorrow’s matches between Kaua‘i and Island School, and the Mar. 31 matches between Kaua‘i and Waimea have been rescheduled. Waimea will play Kaua‘i on Apr. 4 at the Hanapepe Courts at 3 p.m.
Kaua‘i will then play Island School, Apr. 11 at the Kaua‘i Community College courts at 2 p.m.
