Which surfboard is right for me?
That question can most of the time be a difficult one to answer, based on the personal opinions of the different surf shops, and the ability of being able to buy surfboards online.
Two surfers from New Jersey have developed a Web-based application and are now exhibiting their work that will cater to the surfing industry as a promotional and educational tool to help potential surfboard buyers select the right boards for their needs..
The application’s alogrithm will evaluate a user’s body type, experience and surfing condition to deliver a recommendation of several classifications of surfboards available to the user based on more than 50 years of modern surfboard knowledge.
This will erase the problem potential buyers face when buying a new board.
A demonstration version is exhibited on the Web at db-surfaces.com/selector.htm.
The application was designed to accomodate different types of surfboard stock and classifications after realizing the needs of both board manufacturers and surfing retailers.
Each business entity has the flexibility to uniquely fine tune the recommendation to fit personal preferences.
Referred to as “Board Selector,” the application evaluates and outputs select models to compliment the surfers’ needs and specifications.
It is the creators’ intention that the board selector will match the surfer to the surfboard that is right for him/her, creating a synergy between the seller and buyer.
