In celebration of Mother’s Day, the Kaua‘i Museum will present a breakfast fashion show with Honolulu designer Nake‘u Awai in “A Photograph, A Calabash, A Paper Lei” on May 12, at the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort.
The morning starts with an open market at 8:30 a.m., featuring floral bouquets, homemade jams and jellies, island linens plus potato bags, lauhala hats and hand bags, Ni‘ihau shell jewelry, and Nake‘u’s fashions all available for Mom.
David Penhallow will also be present to autograph his new book “The Story of Coco Palms.” Breakfast will be served at 9:30 a.m., with the fashion show to follow.
Local musicians and models from Kaua‘i will be entertaining in the inimitable style of Nake‘u Awai, who has impressed people from New York to Hollywood, and back to his roots in Hawai‘i. His shows on O‘ahu and Big Island are always a sell out, so interested persons are advised to get their tickets early and help support the Kaua‘i Museum.
