All Danny Oertli can remember was that the theater was cold, and small, and empty.
It was the spring of 1992 and Oertli was a sophomore at Colorado State University.
Armed with an arsenal of four songs, he was to be the opening act for a Canadian artist even less known than himself, a near impossibility because this was his first gig.
That was almost 15 years ago. Since then, Oertli has traveled throughout the United States and across the world singing and playing his guitar.
He has played in stadiums, arenas, churches, and even on a few hay bales.
Most weekends will find Oertli performing concerts or leading worship.
He has performed at over 1000 different venues across the globe.
Recently, Oertli also wrote his autobiography for Nav Press entitled “Mommy Paints the Sky.”
Oertli has recorded five independent records.
The latest of which is “Everything in Between”, produced by Grammy award winner Jason Burkum (Audio Adrenaline and Tree 63).
Ranging from intimate acoustic to full band sound, “Everything in Between” is a roller-coaster of powerful music.
Fifteen years is a long time to survive in the music business. With a unique blend of guitar playing, stories, and song, Oertli is able to engage audiences of all ages with dramatic experiences from his life.
Oertli will be sharing his testimony and music on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and again on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at Calvary Chapel Kaua’i on the Kapa’a Bypass Road.
