Damian Miles, who first made a splash here in Kaua‘i back in 2000 with his trademark flowery photography, returns once again for two weeks to create his own version of the 1930s/1940s style Hawaiiana for all the beautiful mothers and children of Kaua‘i, both local and visiting.
“I’m honored and thrilled to be back here and available to everyone,” said Miles, in a press release. “I look forward to capturing the beauty of Kaua‘i and its children once again. I’m just so excited to be here.”
“Miles,” as he is known, is a native New Yorker who has been a part time resident of Hawai‘i since 1999. His company, Renaissance Baby, was founded in 1987 after the inspirational birth of his daughter Amber.
He wanted to have a portrait worthy of her, so when he couldn’t find anyone to do it, started taking pictures of her himself. Always working with what Miles has coined “The Natural Divinities;” Earth, Water, Sky, Sun and Flowers, Hawai‘i seemed like the perfectly natural place to call a second home.
“Every child deserves an heirloom portrait — one that honors him or her. This is my gift to the children and how their future generations will remember them.”
