Do you think open government is practiced on Kaua‘i? Why or why not?
Nalinee Pickop Kapa‘a
With the Superferry they [the government] wanted public opinion, which was good and bad. They had meetings for it. They do try to get public acceptance before they make decisions.
Dick Sloggett Lihu‘e
No, I do not. However, I believe they attempt to be open through venues such as Ho‘ike and The Garden Island. In reality my perception is that they do not.
Laura Nichols Lihu‘e
No, because there are meetings that the public are not allowed to attend. Hawai‘i’s government is poisoned with back door deals.
Chris Webster Kalaheo
No, the County Council decides too many issues without listening to enough from Kaua‘i’s populace.
