The Kaua‘i County Recreation Agency is collaborating with Ilima Rivera and her hula studio for an after-school program.
Rivera has been in the entertainment business for over 35 years and has extensive experience teaching youth music and dance.
Classes start Monday, at the Kapa‘a Armory and will last six weeks. Classes are held Monday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. which will feature stage, props, and sound system.
Tuesdays will feature ‘ukulele lessons from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. as well as Hula/Tahitian from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Wednesday will be Hawaiian Percussion from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Tahitian drumming from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Classes are open to children ages 7 to 17 years old.
There is no fee. Parents need to complete a registration form. If interested, pick up a registration form at your school’s office and return the completed form to the office. The form is due today.
