The Mokihana Club invites graduating high school senior music students to apply for their 38th annual music scholarship competition. The Mokihana Club, a women’s non-profit philanthropic organ-ization, raises funds for their music scholarships each year with a Christmas Gala luncheon and individual donations. The purpose of the competition is to encourage talented, graduating Kaua‘i students to continue their studies at institutions of higher learning.
The live competition will be held at Lihu‘e Parish Hall, April 4, at 10:30 a.m. Last year the Mokihana Club awarded $6,500 in scholarship money to talented qualifying high school graduating seniors who participated in the annual music competition which includes performing piano, voice and instrumental music. As of 2006, over $85,700 has been given in music and performing-arts scholarships in the Mokihana Club’s long history.
Applications are available through teachers at all high schools and must be postmarked by midnight March 16. For more information call Marilyn Oglesby, 828-1327 or Donna Lee at 338-1762.
