Coming on the heels of the final game in the county’s 12 and Under girls basketball, the Lihu‘e Kamakazes will be winging to the Big Island for a basketball tournament there.
With their first game scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. this afternoon, the girls will be literally heading right to the gym from the airport.
In their final contest against the Gee’s Angels Wednesday night, the Kamakazes were victimized by the tenacious Angel defense who held the Kamakazes to just two buckets — one from Kawai Calderon and one from Alexis Hernandez.
But that can’t dampen the spirit of the girls who will also play in two games Saturday at the WMS Na Paniolo Wahine Basketball Classic.
Team members include Lauren Fernandez, Lacey Lucas, Hernandez, Siarah Perreira, Pili Chung, Kawehi Louis-Diamond, Calderon, Chase Golden-Froelich and Pi‘i Matias.
Kevin Hanano is their coach.
