TGI’s interns reveal bright futures

Mari Graham is a senior at Kauai High School.

She has been one of the captains of the school’s mock trial team for the past three years.

She has shared editor-in-chief duties at the school newspaper Making Waves, for two years. Mari is also co-opinion editor of the publication.

Her interests outside of school include reading, writing, watching old movies, music and going to the beach.

Besides her internship at The Garden Island newspaper, Mari works for Captain Andy’s Sailing Adventures.

In the fall Mari will be attending Clark University in Worcester, Mass., majoring in political science.

She will continue to pursue her interest in journalism and in mock trial at Clark by joining both their mock trial team and the newspaper, The Scarlet.

Auika Muragin is also a senior at Kauai High.

She has been playing soccer for 12 years, in HYSA and AYSO, and was part of the girls’ varsity team for three years.

She has also been the sports editor at the school newspaper for the last two years. Her interests include playing sports, going to the beach, music and hanging with her friends. Auika also works at the Kalaheo Coffee Company.

Although she is currently undecided, Auika has been accepted to the University of Oregon in Eugene, and Southern Oregon University in Ashland.

At college Auika would like to major in journalism and communications and would also like to continue her involvement in a student-run publication.
