Kaua‘i JV holds off Menehune

Waimea’s furious come back from a 14-point halftime deficit fell short as Kaua‘i held on for a 50-46 win.

Malcolm Carter, held to just 5-6 at the charity stripe in the first half, nailed a trey and a bucket en route to his team-high 12 points before fouling out late in the game.

Siasau Matagiese followed with 10 points. Dayton Bayot finished with all of his game-total 8 points coming in the second half surge.

Xavier Guirao and Bransen Agu added 7 points apiece to round out the Junior Menehune scoring leaders.

Scott Taylor erupted for 8 second-half points en route to netting a game-high 13 points to lead Kaua‘i. Teila Huni followed with 8 points and Eric Onodeira rounded out the Raider scoring leaders with 7.

Kaua‘i JV closes out the KIF season Friday with a trip to Bernice Hundley Gym in Kapa‘a.

However, due to the airing of the varsity contest, the JV game will start following the completion of the varsity’s 5 p.m. tipoff to allow for the state-wide broadcast by the OC16 television crew.
