Congratulations to Fred Atkins, Boone Morrison and all those involved with the Kaua‘i Plantation Railway! The wind might’ve played havoc with all the leaves Fred swept away for the dedication, but wind, or no, the train’s running and you can hear the whistle blow on days when the wind’s not so strong.
For those who think Boone is only a train guy, guess again. An architect by trade, Boone is also a great photographer whose work has graced the covers and pages of some of Hawai‘i’s top publications.
Terri Goo was on hand to make sure everyone got on the train on time.
If you’re checking out the train, drop in on Sue Pittman at Kilohana Clayworks for your “Souper Sunday” that benefits the Kauai Food Bank. Judy Lenthall said this is the 10th year Sue’s been doing the program, which features a ceramic bowl filled with soup created by Gaylord’s (Russ Talvi was checking out the railroad crossing guy on his way to work) — just enough to enjoy before kickoff.
Anybody else got Super Bowl events going on?
Coach Bobby Rapozo was at the girls 12 and Under and is already anticipating the playoff game tonight … Domi Alayvilla’s ‘ohana was at Ace Hardware and heard all about it from coach Karl Ubongen … they’ll be at Vidinha, too.
OK, gotta run — if you’ve got the radio on to KQNG from 7:05 to 8 a.m. Thursday morning, you’ll get to hear TGI celebs like Lanaly Cabalo, Lester Chang, Charlotte Woolard and Amanda C. Gregg. At the head of all these guys will be Mark Lewis, TGI publisher, who’ll be introducing them to you listeners … check it out — hopefully, it goes good with morning coffee.
