Hawaiian Immersion graduate receives scholarship

Na Leo Kako‘o o Kaua‘i recently presented a $300 scholarship award to Ke Kula Kaiapuni Hawaiian Immersion Program 2006 graduate Kanoe Woodward. Na Leo Kako‘o president Nolan Rapozo presented the award to Woodward with parents, Llewellyn and Nadine of Anahola.

Woodward was a student at Kula Kaiapuni o Kapa‘a Hawai‘i from kindergarten to 12th grade. Ke Kula Kaiapuni students read, write and learn a standard-based education in the Hawaiian language with an emphasis in Hawaiian culture and values. English is introduced to the students by the 5th grade.

Woodward is currently enrolled in the Hawaiian Studies Program at Kaua‘i Community College.
