Chow leads Raiders in the fourth

WAIMEA — The Menehune JV stayed within four points in the first period and gave up just a two-point margin at the half.

But the effort fell short following three periods as the Kaua‘i JV surged ahead to a 59-45 win as Nick Chow took the lead with a 5-point quarter. Scott Taylor and Cameron Largusa lent 4 points each in the 19-11 frame.

Teila Huni, who finished with a game-high 17 points, had 3 points in the fourth period.

Following Huni, Chow finished with 9 points, Lester Alacar added 8 and Taylor finished with 6 to round out the Raider leaders.

Four Menehune paced a balanced attack in offense as Xavier Guirao topped Waimea with 11 points, followed by Sean Inouye and Malcolm Carter adding 10 points each. Bransen Agu rounded out the leaders with 9 points.

With the win, Kaua‘i continues to build on its undefeated season and will host Kapa‘a on Friday starting at 5:30 p.m.

The varsity game, which will be broadcast on KQNG AM570 by Anahola Joel Pahukula, starts 20 minutes following the completion of the JV contest.
