Rotarians give out dictionaries

Third-grade students at three Kaua‘i Westside public schools received a dictionary through the efforts of the Rotary Club of West Kaua‘i.

Rotary Club President Spencer Schmidt and Club Treasurer Elaine Albertson presented 37 dictionaries to the two third-grade classes at Kekaha Elementary School Tuesday under the club’s Dictionary Project.

Similarly, presentations of student dictionaries to students at ‘Ele‘ele and Waimea Canyon schools were on the club’s schedule. Following the presentation, Schmidt led the students through a discussion about the features of the dictionary which also include American Sign Language definitions, information on the solar system and the longest word in the English language.
