Ohana Christian Fellowship members and volunteers held their 7th annual Day of Thanksgiving at the Kapa‘a Beach Park in mid-November. Pastor Matt Victor said there were more than 550 meals served to the community.
“We’re just trying to feed the folks who are needy and the people who might need some help,” he said.
Along with the Thanksgiving meal, clothes and household items were given away. To cap off the evening, a free movie in the park was hosted by the church in conjunction with Kauai Island Ministries and the Kauai Anti-Drug Alliance.
“We probably had close to 100 volunteers from the church and the community there,” said Victor.
They got help with the cooking from the staff of the Kauai Marriott Hotel and received baked goods from the Kauai Bakery.
“We’ve been doing this for several years now and it’s our way to help out,” Victor said.
