KAPA‘A — The Devils split their weekend series in the Bantam division just as the Sharks and Dragons split theirs at the latest round of inline hockey action.
Brandon Taylor opened the weekend with six goals for the Devils in their 10-10 stalemate with the Grasshoppers and added a pair in their 8-6 win over the Piranhas.
Jean-Luc Tremblay followed up Taylor’s lead in their game against the Grasshoppers to finish with a pair of scores. Cydney Sitzler and Mathias Davis each added one.
Davis picked up the pace for their outing against the Piranhas and led the Devils with three goals. Brandon Taylor and Jean-Luc Tremblay each netted two scores and an Austin Taylor goal rounded out their showing over the Piranhas.
For the Grasshoppers, Matt Heller had the strong stick with three goals and three assists followed by Kawaiika Punua, Ben Steuri and Kirsten McCracken each netting two. A goal from Christian Perdue rounded out the Grasshopper showing. Steuri and McCracken also had an assist apiece in the effort.
Jacob Lewis paced the Piranhas’ effort with four goals followed by Cole Pemberton and Sierra Mayer each scoring one, Perberton getting two assists in the game as well.
Devils goalie Derek Gillette was 18 saves on 28 shots while Grasshopper goalie Greg Balmores saved 32 on 42 attempts.
In the game against the Piranhas, the Devils had an M-I-A goalie while Piranha goalie Kiana Tremblay had 34 saves on 42 attempts.
In the weekend opener for the Squirt division, Eli Leech-Kritchman led the Sharks with three goals followed by Chanel Tremblay and Gavin Bryan each netting 2 in the Sharks’ 9-6 win over the Dragons.
Troy Spears finished with three goals for the Dragons with Robin Bihm, Eric Potter and Edward Punua Jr. each netting one.
Potter took the lead with three goals in the Dragons’ 7-6 showing over the Sharks in the second game. Punua Jr. added two with Bihm and Troy Spears each netting one in the win that came as Potter got the edge on a follow up shot late in the game.
Andy Siegel led Green to a 6-5 win over Red in the only Open division game played. Mike Goodnight added a pair and two assists in the win with David Skinner netting one.
Tyson Wakayama led the Red effort with a pair of scores and two assists followed by Brian Bodine adding two scores and an assist. Chris Wingerberg finished with a score.
Green goalkeeper Todd Mayer had 31 saves on 37 attempts. Red goalie Jamie Pablo finished with the same numbers.
Games continue at the Kapa‘a rink on Friday and Sunday.
