The Koloa Packers JPW team will have their hands full Saturday.
Undefeated through the regular season, the Packers JPW will take on the Kealakehe Warlords from the Big Island at noon in the Maile Bowl.
At stake is the berth at the Pop Warner Superbowl in Florida in December. The Maile Bowl is the first of three bowl games on the Pop Warner post-season calendar.
On Nov. 25 at Hanapepe Stadium, the Mokihana Bowl will feature the Hamakua Cougars’ JPW, PW and Midget teams and cheer squads playing against their Koloa counterparts.
Tackle football wraps up for good Dec. 2 with the Charity Bowl games at Vidinha Stadium featuring the Westside taking on the Eastside at 9 a.m.
“The Kealakehe Warlords are undefeated coming to Kaua‘i,” said Sean Andrade, vice president of the Koloa Pop Warner Association. “This should turn out to be a good game as they bring size and speed to Kaua‘i.”
The Warlords finished the regular season 9-0 and went 1-0 in the Big Island championships played the past weekend against Keaukaha.
Andrade said the Kealakehe squad will arrive 33 strong on Friday along with a traveling contingent of parents and supporters.
Other games on tap for the Maile Bowl include the Lihu‘e Patriots JPW taking on the Hanapepe Colts at 8 a.m. at Vidinha Stadium. This will be followed by the Koloa Raiders Midget division taking on the Hanapepe Colts as a preface to the noon showdown.
Following the Koloa-Kealakehe matchup, the Lihu‘e Patriots PW squad hosts the Kapa‘a Eagles PW in a re-match of a rain-out earlier in the season.
This game starts at 2:30 p.m. and will be followed by the Midget division Lihu‘e Patriots hosting the Kapa‘a Eagles at 4:30 p.m.
