KAPA‘A — Gavin Bryan finished with a game-high five goals, but the Sharks fell to the Dragons 11-9 in the first of three games played Saturday at the Kapa‘a rink.
Eric Potter led the Dragons’ attack with four goals in their Squirt division victory. Robin Bihm, Thor Haughland and Edward Punua each finished with two goals while Shannon Sitzler rounded out the scoring. Sterling Carfrae helped out with an assist while Punua added two saves and a pair of assists.
Following Bryan’s game-high scoring, Chael Tremblay netted four goals. Natalie Lewis finished with an assist and a save.
Jean Luc Tremblay and Ben Steuri each finished with two goals to lead the Green (Tyson) to a 7-1 win over the Piranhas in the Bantam contest.
Kawaika Punua had a goal and an assist, Matt Heller and Stephanie Steuri each netted a goal in the win. Green goalkeeper Greg Balmores saved 39 of 40 shot attempts.
Despite the firestorm of shots, the Piranhas got their sole goal from Cole Pemberton while their goalie, Kiana Tremblay, had 21 saves on 28 shots.
Tyson Wakayama finished with a game-high five goals, but the Green Team dropped 9-7 to the Red Devils in the Open Division contest.
Nick Braden, Steve Mangiello and Andy Siegal paced the Red Devils with three goals apiece in the win. Goalie Jaime Pablo had 39 saves on 46 shot attempts.
Bryan McCracken and Brian Bodine each finished with a goal each. Bodine and Wakayama each had an assist. Todd Mayer, the Green Team goalie, finished with 31 saves on 40 shots.
Games are played Saturday and Sundays at the Kapa‘a inline rink, and hosted by the Kaua‘i Inline Hockey Association.
