James M. Robinson of Lihu‘e died Oct. 7, 2006, at Hale Kupuna at the age of 93. Born March 25, 1913, in Texas, he worked on a horse ranch.
He is survived by granddaughter, Anita (Norman) Akana Jr.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Joseph A. Lopez Jr.
Joseph A. Lopez Jr. of Lihu‘e died Oct. 3, 2006, at his home at the age of 67.
Born Nov. 8, 1938, in Hawai‘i, he was a security guard at Nawiliwili Harbor.
He is survived by his wife Eden S. Lopez; three sons, Joseph A. Lopez III, Randy Lopez and James Hosaka; daughter Nancy Hosaka; brother Michael Lopez; sisters Lorraine Wetmore and Josephine Andrade; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may call on Friday, Oct. 13 at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Immaculate Conception Church from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Edward Matsusaka
Edward “Eddie” Esumi Matsusaka of Kekaha died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Oct. 7, 2006, at the age of 82.
Born on July 24, 1924 in Hule‘ia, he retired from Kekaha Sugar Plantation Company.
Preceded in death by sons, Melvin and Ronald, he is survived by his wife, Shizue Ikemoto Matsusaka of Kekaha; daughter, Diane (Gilman) Apo of Kekaha; six sisters, Elizabeth “Kay” (Satoshi) Suzuki of O‘ahu, Emy (Walter) Yookoji of O‘ahu, Lorraine Davis of Nevada, Doris Yee of South Carolina, Ethel Ripley of O‘ahu and Joann Souza of O‘ahu; four brothers, Edwin (Azuma) Matsusaka of O‘ahu, Eugene (Jean) Matsusaka of O‘ahu, Alvin (Julia) Wasano of Kekaha and Stanley (Barbara) Wasano of Kentucky; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service officiated by Pastor Darryl Kua will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery Pavilion in Hanapepe; interment to follow. Casual attire is suggested.
