KAPA‘A — A room once used for storage at the Kapa‘a Neighborhood Center was recently transformed into a fitness room.
“Our kupuna seem to be very happy that we set up a special room with some of the latest exercise equipment,” director Bernard Carvalho, said in an Offices of Community Assistance press release.
A $20,000 grant from the state Department of Health’s Start Living Healthy Hawai‘i program enabled the Recreation Agency to completely refurbish the room and purchase exercise equipment including a treadmill, recumbent bicycle, free weights and bench.
The exercise room is being used primarily by seniors who have to go through a screening process before they can use the equipment.
