Bill Gilmartin of the Hawai‘i Wildlife Fund will be the keynote speaker at the Hawaiian Monk Seal Conservation Hui meeting Aug. 15 at the Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center.
Mimi Olry, the Kaua‘i monk seal coordinator, said Gilmartin has vast knowledge and 20 years of experience working with monk seals in the Northwest Hawaiian Islands.
The meeting is open to all past monk seal volunteers as well as people interested in learning more about the endangered species.
Olry said the meeting will start at 7 p.m. and is designed to gear up for an expected upcoming monk seal birth this fall.
