Talk about taking the long way around – Tom, Wendy and Cheyenne Tannery are headed to Gallop, New Mexico, but had to come back from Honolulu to catch the flight here…thank heaven for McDonald’s in Wal-Mart…they had just enough time for a Happy Meal and saimin and off to the airport.
Wendy said they are to meet up with Kelli and Cory Carveiro’s parents and are going to make a real trip out of the Junior Wranglers’ nationals. William and Anita Kaneakua’s relatives from Alaska were spending their last night on Kaua‘i shopping for all those Hawaiian Island stickers and decals before heading back to Alaska, and Jessie and Marian Akagi made a stop there after getting back from Las Vegas.
John Ochoco wasn’t there since he is now in Boston for the Lions International Convention…he had to shoot a few rolls of film for Roy Nishida before heading off to the airport.
Dondi Viquelia had to umpire one of the Xtreme softball games and was blown away by the smoke thrown by these California girls … he’s full-on into the Bronco Region States taking place today at the Lihu‘e County Park, and starting tomorrow at the Waimea Canyon Park (here we come, Teddy Pereira!). Congratulations to coach Rory Rayno and the Wailua greenshirts on taking the Junior Olympics 14 and Under title! Monday’s game was a doozey with that 11-10 win over Central … the Central girls have come a long way since the season started. OK, ‘nuff said … it’s another long weekend, people — Happy Fourth of July!
