Kula Elementary, Intermediate and High school announced scholarship opportunities funded by the Bowman Family Foundation on behalf of Falko Partners.
“Whether it be the public or private system, Falko is committed to supporting the education of the children of Kaua‘i. This is the kuleana of all our citizens, and we are honored to be able to contribute,” states Larry Bowman in a press release.
In total, $250,000 worth of scholarships will be awarded over the next 10 years. Scholarships are earmarked for the children of civil servants and government employees. These scholarships will reach children of merit who cannot currently afford to attend Kula. The scholarships will hopefully benefit the families of Kaua‘i that work to build the island, albeit at lower wages than the private sector. Full and partial scholarships will be available.
In order to qualify for the Bowman Family Foundation Scholarship, applicants must apply to Kula via the regular admissions process. In addition, candidates must submit two years of report cards, standardized test scores, and two letters of recommendation from a teacher.
Applicants must also submit an essay about how they individually help to make Kaua‘i a better place. Finally, applicants will fill out the Kula tuition-assistance application, submit the past two years of tax returns and complete the SSS online through the National Association of Independent Schools (www.nais.org).
The scholarship application deadline for 2006-2007 is June 30.
Continuing and new students entering kindergarten through grade 12 who meet the guidelines are encouraged to apply.
