Koke‘e Museum’s summer WonderWalks guided hike series continues Sunday with an excursion along the Cliff and Canyon Trail to the head of Waipo‘o Falls, offering breath-taking views into Waimea Canyon. Native koa, ‘ohi‘a, sandalwood, halapepe and hahalua trees will be seen along the hike, as well as the state tree, the kukui, and the tropical birds in the canyon.
Space on all hikes is limited, so call 335-9975 or e-mail kokeemuseum@earthlink.net early to reserve a spot. All hikes leave at 12:30 p.m. sharp, meeting at Koke‘e Museum 15 minutes prior.
Lunch is not served, so hikers are encouraged to eat first.
Those who register and can’t make it are encouraged to call and cancel. The hikes are free, though donations are appreciated. Bring drinking water, sunscreen, protective clothing and hiking boots.
