The Kaua‘i club has been meeting continuously since it was founded in 1978. Valentin was one of the founding members, and remains active in the club today.
Meetings are now held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in Lihu‘e.
Founded in 1924 and made up of 8,000 clubs in 70 countries, each club allows individuals to take turns giving both prepared and impromptu speeches in accordance with their educational goals, which are then evaluated by their peers. Many of its members, past and present, are well-known names in politics, entertainment and business.
The Waikiki Marriott in Honolulu is the host for this year’s Region II conference, made up of 900 clubs and 40,000 members throughout California, Nevada and Hawai‘i. The conference is June 23 and 24.
