Antone S. Silva

Antone S. Silva died May 31, 2006, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 87.

Born March 18, 1919, on Kaua‘i, he retired after 33 years of service from the state of Hawai‘i Harbors Division.

Preceded in death by his son, Russell, he is survived by his wife of 64 years: Laura C. Silva; two daughters: Audrey Silva and Laureen (Howard) Ranis; two sons; Randy (Nani) SIlva and Jeffery (Adele) Silva; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother: Albert Silva, of ‘Oma‘o; one sister: Marie Costa, of California.

Following a private family viewing, friends are invited to join his family for Mass on Wednesday, June 7. The funeral Mass begins at 1 p.m. at Holy Cross Church. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross cemetery.

Borthwick Kauai is handling arrangements.

Hiroye Tawata Shimabukuro of Wailua Houselots died at home on June 1, 2006, at the age of 71.

Born in Lihu‘e on April 29, 1935, she was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse with Kauai Medical Group.

She is survived by son, Sterlyn (Nancy) Shimabukuro of Wailua Houselots; two daughters, Wendy (Ernest) Gonsalves of Kapa‘a and Denise (Brian) Infante of Honolulu; four grandchildren, four brothers, Leo Tawata of Kalaheo, George (Vickie) Tawata of California, Melvin Kazu (Gladys) Tawata of Honolulu and Herbert Tawata of Honolulu; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Yoshiko Shimabukuro of Honolulu, Masako Awakuni of Honolulu and Clara Kimie Apaka of Lihu‘e; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery Pavilion in Hanapepe; service officiated by Rev. Edwin Terui will begin at 10:45 a.m. Interment to follow. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.

Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
