Hats off to LBL tournament directors Warren Koga and Tony Vallatin on another great Da Bash baseball tournament.
Ross Kagawa was the tourney arbitrator, and it was easy to see his love for the game. Jabba Garcia anchored the food booth and Mel Rapozo was able to catch both championship games on Monday … great job on the microphone, Mel!
Jessica Iwata, after turning in her Lihu‘e Pony team performance Sunday, took a turn umpiring the Maui/Big Island Mustang showdown.
Michael Koerte was able to attend a Pony baseball game and still make it to Da Bash as well.
Of course, it was nice to see the Westside teams fare so well … congratulations to coach Mark Moriwake of the Hanapepe Cubs for taking the Bronco title … his sons were in the audience (Micah was one of the scoring leaders for the Westside Saturday) … even got to see Kori Masuda at one of the tables in the food tent.
Hats off too to Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza and her Kamanawa Foundation ‘ohana for another successful Kaua‘i Polynesian Festival! Gail Thompson was jockeying between dropping her son off at Da Bash and volunteering at the KPF event.
Teri Lee made the trip over from California, Steve Read spent some time at the group competition and Joe Olivas got a new camera since his other one conked out just before the event started.
Now, is that Nikki Ishibashi who won the overall vahine title the same girl dancing at the arrival of the Pride of Hawai‘i?
