The Waimea baseball team and the Kapa‘a girls basketball squad resume state tournament play today in their respective championships.
After a 10-3 loss to Kaiser on Wednesday, the Menehune dropped down to the consolation bracket.
At 10 a.m., Waimea will battle Moanalua of the OIA. The game will be aired live on Kong AM570.
If the Menehune win, they’ll move into the consolation championship game (7th place), which takes place tomorrow at 12 noon.
A loss would eliminate the KIF champions from the Wally Yonamine/HHSAA State Baseball Tournament, which is being held on Maui at Iron Maehara Stadium.
The Warrior girls earned the right to play for the consolation (7th place) championship game of the Hawaiian Airlines/HHSAA Girls State Basketball Tournament, after defeating Hawai‘i Prep, 34-25 on Wednesday.
The KIF champs face off against Hawa‘i Baptist today at 2:30 p.m. (McKinley High School).
