Rudy Somera
Rudy Patrick Somera of Lihu‘e died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on May 12, 2006, at the age of 59.
Born in Honolulu, O‘ahu, on Oct. 31, 1946, he was a truck driver/machine operator with Lihue Plantation.
He is survived by his wife, Elena Somera; daughter, Janelle “Benki” Somera of Kapa‘a; two grandchildren; sister, Claudia “Cleo” Kanai of Kaneohe; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 20 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kapa‘ia. All bikers are welcome. Mass officiated by Father William Shannon will begin at 10 a.m. followed by interment at the Lihue Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Lorena Alice Prince of Lihu‘e died May 8, 2006, at St. Francis Hospice West at the age of 42.
Born Sept. 20, 1963, in Westminster, Calif., she was a homemaker and caregiver.
She is survived by two sons: Daniel Stanley and Kenny Stanley, both of New Jersey; daughters Nina Stanley and Kelly Stanley, both of New Jersey; parents: Gloria and Donald Basan of Apple Valley, Calif., and John and Lynne Prince of Chula Vista, Calif.; brothers David (Gloria) Silva of Rialto, Calif., and John (Virginia) Prince of Eureka, Calif.; sisters: Michelle (Brian) Cummings of Aliso Viejo, Calif., Nalani Basan of Apple Valley, Calif., and Katalina Prince of Borrego, Springs, Calif.
Memorial celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 at Lydgate Park; potluck reception to follow.

Nobu Gushiken
Nobu “Larry” Gushiken of Waipahu died May 11, 2006, in Honolulu at the age of 81.
Born Nov. 13, 1924, in Koloa, he was a retired auto electrician with Auto Electric Inc.
He is survived by his wife: Yone Gushiken; two sons: Elson (Aileen) Gushiken and Ricky Gushiken; daughter: Lori (Edson) Hoo; four sisters: Kimiko Oshiro of Honolulu, Katsuko (Joe) Matsuyama of Lihu‘e, Madeline (Miyoshi) Matsuda of ‘Ele‘ele, and Alice (Paul) Kamiya of Kaneohe, O‘ahu; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services over his ashes will be held on Sunday, May 28 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., services at 11 a.m. Private inurnment bythe family will take place at a later date.
The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Sergio Q. Pascual Sr.
Sergio Q. Pascual Sr. of Koloa died May16, 2006, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 78.
Born Oct. 5, 1927, in the Philippines, he was a teacher.
He is survived by his wife: Catalina Pascual; daughters: Arminda (Michael) Abigania, Elizabeth (Renato) Escobar, Edith (Nicanor) Ocumen, Grace Pascual, Janet Pascual, and Fatima (Douglas) James; three sons: Sergio (Agnes) Pascual, Jr., Arthur (Thelma) Pascual and Andrew (Rebecca) Pascual; one brother: Lope (Myra) Pascual; and two sisters: Anita and Nena; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, May 23 at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.and again on Wednesday, May 24 at St. Raphael’s Church from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Raphael’s Church Cemetery in Koloa

Loretta Felicidad Lum
Loretta Felicidad Lum of Waianae, O‘ahu, died May 5, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center, at the age of 65.
Born April 30, 1941, in Lihu‘e, she was a cafeteria worker for the state Department of Education.
She is survived by her husband: Albert J. Lum Sr., sons: Albert J. (Dana) Lum Jr., John I. Lum, and Micah J. (Jennifer) Lum; daughters: June “Dolly” D. Chang, Jo-Ann M. (Eddie) DeMotto, and Lisa M. (Allen) Holt; sisters: Flora (Pedro) Camalliri of Kaua‘i, Ruth Surveyor of California, and Josephine (Tony) Refamonte of Kaua‘i; 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Mililani Mortuary Maruka Chapel; memorial service at 6 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested.

Adele Gabbert
Adele Miki Martin Gabbert died April 3, 2006, in Vancouver, Wash., at the age of 69.
Born March 29, 1937, in Wyandotte, Mich., she lived in several states on the mainland but spent most of her life on Kaua‘i, her favorite home close to the seashore.
She was skilled in crocheting, metal arts, Christmas lights and most often could be found on the beach weaving coconut palm fronds into hats, baskets, wall decor and birds. With her at the beach was her dog, Bouray, as he never strayed from her side.
Preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Victoria Van Aman, she is survived by four sons: Bob, Mike, Jay and Jeffrey Gabbert; daughter Wendy Gabbert; grandchidren and great grandchldren; brother Ed Martin of Kapa‘a; Gordon, her partner-in-residence, and many friends.
The burial of her ashes will take place on Aliomanu Beach at a later date.
