Woman’s body found after flames extinguished

Firefighters responding to a car fire in Hanapepe Valley yesterday discovered the remains of a woman in the vehicle after the flames were extinguished.

Responding to the call shortly after 11 a.m., firefighters from the Hanapepe Station contacted the Kauai Police Department after discovering the remains.

According to a county press release, a tentative identification of the female victim has been made. Her name is being withheld until her identity is confirmed and proper notifications can be made.
