A female visitor taking scuba lessons at Koloa Landing late yesterday morning was hospitalized last night after having difficulty, states a county press release.
The woman, 58, from Natchitoches, La., was not identified, and her condition at Wilcox Memorial Hospital was not obtainable at press time last night.
At around 11:45 a.m. yesterday, her dive instructor noticed she was having difficulty, so he brought her to shore and performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on her. According to reports, she was unresponsive.
Within minutes, firefighters from the Kaua‘i Fire Department Koloa fire station, along with emergency medical technicians from American Medical Response ambulance service, arrived on the scene, and continued performing resuscitation on the woman.
She was then taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital via ambulance.
