A parade and celebration commemorating the arrival of the first Filipinos in Hawai‘i 100 years ago is scheduled for today at 9 a.m.
The parade will begin at the Historic County Building on Eiwa Street, continue down Rice and end at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall on Hardy Street.
To accommodate the parade, Kauai Police Department officials will close off county streets along the parade route, from about 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., including n Eiwa Street, Rice Street, a portion of Hardy Street near the intersection of Hardy and Kalena streets, as well as all feeder roads to Rice Street.
Motorists will need to seek alternate routes to get to their destinations during the parade.
