Bridge clubs active

Members of and visitors to the North Shore and Poalua Bridge Clubs play every Thursday at 9 a.m. sharp at Sun Village Kauai apartments behind Wilcox Memorial Hospital.

This is the oldest bridge club on the island, and visitors are welcome to play, members said. To find a partner or additional information, call Jane Nearing Go at 826-9753, or Betty Moore at 245-1994.

On April 27, there were seven tables in play. The results follow: North/South: 1. Lil Riley and Debbie Byrnes; 2. (tie) Al and Patty Ficker, and Dick Shen and Earl Reeve (from Southern California); East/West: 1. Sheila Honeywell and Francine Donahue; 2. Terry Craig and Dr. Don Lathrop (from California).

Members of the Sunrise Duplicate Bridge Club play each Thursday at the Church of the Pacific hall in Princeville, beginning promptly at 9 a.m. For playing partners or more information, call Lolita Horney at 826-6805.

Members of the Sunset Duplicate Bridge Club play bridge each Saturday at the Church of the Pacific hall in Princeville, starting promptly at 1 p.m. For playing partners or more information, call Lenda Helser at 828-0609.

Members of the Ka Haku o Hawaii Bridge Club play the second and fourth Mondays of every month at 9 a.m. at Hanalei Bay Resort, including today. They meet for breakfast at 8 a.m. before play. For playing partners or more information, call Jane Nearing Go, 826-9753.

Winners of the April 24 game were: 1. (tie) Jane Nearing Go and Earl Reeve, a visitor from California, and Ilse Rothschild and Francine Donahue; 3. Pat Burgess and Loukas Fytros.

On May 8 there will be a free breakfast for players, to celebrate the anniversary of the return to Hanalei Bay Resort after Hurricane ‘Iniki in 1992. “We returned in May of 1996,” a club spokesperson said.
