Kauaians have the opportunity Saturday to be part of a worldwide album-making effort, local Creative Memories Consultant Janice Bond of Lihu‘e said in a press release.
She and other Creative Memories Consultants offer exclusive Memoranza workshops, with the Kaua‘i event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kauai Veterans Center on Kapule Highway in Lihu‘e.
The desire to preserve memories spans language, geographical and cultural barriers, she pointed out.
Recognizing the worldwide importance of memory preservation, Kaua‘i’s consultants will join more than 90,000 Creative Memories Consultants to celebrate Memoranza, an annual event bringing together people from around the world to share memories and to complete keepsake albums.
Consultants will provide instruction on safe and creative photo preservation, and will assist participants in starting keepsake albums.
The fee is $15 per person for the all-day event, $20 for new croppers.
Celebrated as National Scrapbook Day for the past 10 years, Memoranza has evolved from a local celebration of scrapbooking into an annual, worldwide event emphasizing the importance of documenting and preserving family photos and stories in safe, meaningful keepsake albums.
