The scores from yesterday were unusually high at the second to last KIF golf match of the season, but that didn’t stop the Red Raider golf teams from capturing the KIF championships.
However, the individual titles are still up for grabs and according to Kaua’i coach Winston Ogata, yesterday’s match was the first round for individual qualifying honors.
Next week’s contest at the Wailua Golf Course is the final round for the individual title.
“The best of the two weeks is the KIF Individual Champion for the respective divisions,” Ogata wrote in email.
Top performers at the Po’ipu Bay Golf Course match, included Kapa’a’s Jon Ganir (83), Jet Levinthol (85), Travis Toguchi (85), Kaua’i’s Michael Garcia (75), Chad Nonaka, (76), Cory Oride (85), Byron Rualizo (87), Nikko Tacsiat (77), Kellen Watabu (80), Wiley Yoshioka (77), and Waimea’s Noel Torres.
For the girls, Kaua’i’s Miki Ueoka stole the show with an 80, followed by teammate Rae-Lyn Morikawa (86), and Kapa’a’s Malia Saiki (89).
