Hundreds of volunteers will be honored next week at the Sheraton Waikiki by Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, with Kaua‘i Catholics making a strong showing.
According to a press release, an individual or married couple is chosen by their parish to be honored at the Island Treasures event because of the work they have done to enhance their parish life.
Volunteers from Kaua‘i who are being honored are: Albert and Dorothy Moura of Holy Cross in Kalaheo; Juan “Johnny” Francisco of the Sacred Heart Mission of ‘Ele‘ele; Paul S. Carvalho of Immaculate Conception in Lihu‘e; Larry and Jade Rosa of St. Catherine in Kapa‘a; Kiyong and Rosalina Labrador of St. Raphael’s in Koloa; Martin Costales of St. Theresa’s in Kekaha; Debra Uilani Ruiz of Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Mission in Waimea; and Manuel Aguada of the St. Joseph Mission Church in Kaumakani.
Honorees are expected to be joined by their parish priests, fellow parishioners, family, and friends, to share in this special night.
The dinner celebration concludes with an honoree processional and awards ceremony.
