Andy Irons moves on at Rip Curl Pro

Andy Irons moved into the quarterfinals of the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach, Australia, after advancing past Bobby Martinez, 12.5-10.5, yesterday in fourth round action.

The news however, wasn’t as good for younger brother Bruce, who was thwarted from competition by Australia’s Bede Durbidge, 14.90-14.56.

Reigning Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) champion Kelly Slater moved along to the quarters with a win over Taylor Knox.

Quarterfinal action commences today, surf permitting.

Kaua‘i’s third pro surfer on the tour, Roy Powers, was eliminated in round two by O‘ahu’s Pancho Sullivan.
