Like many things last month, the Hawaii Children’s Theatre fund-raising whale-watch sail was canceled due to inclement weather and the Kilauea tragedy, organizers said in an e-mail.
The fund-raiser, which is also a fund-raiser for Island School students planning a trip to Kenya this summer, has been rescheduled to April 29.
Students in the Island School media club, JUMP (Juveniles Use Media Power) will be off to Kenya for a month in July to work with Kenyan high school students in their JUMP club on various projects for raising awareness of HIV/AIDS. The Island School students need to raise quite a bit of money for the trip.
This fund-raiser proceeds mostly goes to them, with some to Hawaii Children’s Theatre and the balance to the Kaua‘i Island Fund of the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, for flood victims.
More information on the Island JUMP club is available at www.jumptochangetheworld.org.
Those at the Hawaii Children’s Theatre recently brought island residents and visitors “Beauty and the Beast.” The cruise, aboard a Captain Andy’s Sailing Adventures trimaran out of Kukui‘ula Small Boat Harbor, departs at 1 p.m.
The cost is $60 per person, which includes food and drinks. Space is very limited, and those interested in making reservations should call Debra Blachowiak, 639-2437.
