After edging the Red Raider (3-2) baseball team 6-4 on Wednesday at Vidinha Stadium, the Menehune (3-1) put themselves in contention to clinch the KIF baseball first round title against the Warriors today.
However, Waimea needs to win both games at the Ron Martin Athletic Field, with the first of a double dip, beginning at 10 a.m.
If the Warriors take one game from the Menehune, then the suspended game earlier this season will take place on Wednesday, with Kaua’i up, 9-5 in the second inning against Kapa’a.
Menehune coach Kelly Robinson wants his team to stay focused and take the Warriors seriously.
“They’ve played us tough, so we have to play our best to beat them,” Robinson said after the win against Kaua’i on Wednesday.
If Kapa’a sweeps the Menehune, then the Red Raiders have a chance to clinch the title with a win on Wednesday.
KIF tennis is also on tap today at 12 noon, with Island School battling Kapa’a at Kiahuna and Waimea jousting with Kaua’i at Hanapepe.
KIF golf swings into action at the Puakea Golf Course today, starting at 12:08 p.m.
