Windy track qualifier goes on
LIHU’E — It was windy, but that didn’t stop K1F track and field athletes from attaining respectable showings yesterday at Vidinha Stadium.
Among the fourth qualifier top finishers were Waimea’s Melia Prinzing (17.57) and Kaua’i’s Jonathan Rellin (17.59) in the 100 hurdles, Kaua’i’s Emma Makepa-Foley (13.18) and Andrew Renaud (11.6) in the 100 meters, Waimea’s Rachel Martin (5:31.94) and Nathan Martin (4:32.22) in the 1,500 meters, Waimea’s 4×100 relay squad (Kenny Estes. Dan Lizama, Allan-Michael Caspar, B.J. Batalion, 46.29) and Kaua’i’s 4×100 girls squad (Jamilee Jimenez, Makepa-Foley, Tiffany Ikeda-Simao, Allison Arakaki, 52.09), Kaua’i’s Auika Muragin (1:05.59) and Kapa’a’s Jason Orbe-Smith (59.53) in the 400, Kapa’a’s Nahtice Nield (51.31) and Waimea’s Chris Aguilar (45.08) in the 300 hurdles, Waimea’s Kollin Morikawa, Batalion (20-1.75) in the long jump, Kaua’i’s Jimenez (4-11) and Waimea’s Calsen Agrade (5-6) in the high jump, Waimea’s Nathan Martin (2:13.99) and Kaua’i’s Tara McCoy (2:39.83) in the 800, Waimea’s Estes (22.94) and Kaua’i’s MakepaFoley (28.62) in the 200, Kapa’a’s Nathaniel Langi (44-10) and Loke Manaku (26-01) in the shotput, and both Manaku (10210) and Langi (126-05) won in the discus as well.

Koloa Pop Warner is now taking applications for cheerleading coaches for our 2006-07 cheer season. Anyone interested can contact Nalani at 652-2578, or e-mail cnaguano@yahoo.com.
USTA Adult Tennis meeting today
There will be a captains meeting for USTA Adult Tennis today at 4 p.m. (Po’ipu Kai).
Divisions include men’s 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 and women’s 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5.
Captains or their representative should be prepared to schedule matches and inquire about extra players.
The deadline to register a team (minimum 8 players) is April 22, which will be the start of the adult season.
Once registered, a team may add up to 16 players by May8.
