Leaders of Island School were the recipients of a donation check to the school by officials from First Hawaiian Bank.
First Hawaiian Bank Senior Vice President and Kaua’i Regional Supervisor Michael Murakoshi, and First Hawaiian Bank officer Paul Endo, made the presentation of a check for $20,000, according to a press release.
The check represents the third of three equal installments for a total of $60,000 from leaders at the First Hawaiian Foundation to help fund school-expansion plans.
The Island School campus expansion’s first phase includes a regulation-size gymnasium, locker rooms, and a cultural center for the Hawaiian-studies program, school officials said.
Accepting the donation at Island School were Head of School Bob Springer, Assistant Head and Development Director Joan Shaw, board President David Pratt, and Capital Campaign Committee members Holbrook Goodale, Debra Blachowiak, Alan King, Brad Snyder, Katherine Richardson, Paul Kyono and James Mayfield.
