Kaua‘i, who swept Kapa‘a on Saturday, has a big showdown against Waimea for the top spot in the KIF baseball standings.
The Red Raiders are 3-1 and Waimea sits at 2-1, with both teams battling today at Vidinha Stadium, starting at 2:45 p.m.
A win by Kaua‘i would give them a commanding first-round lead over the Menehune, who desperately need to win today.
Meanwhile, the Warriors, who are winless on the season at 0-3, get a chance to break the win column against the Menehune on Saturday.
The first game of the doubleheader begins at 10 a.m. at the Ron Martin Athletic Field.
Originally, Saturday was scheduled as a playoff day, but since the March 18 games were postponed due to rain, KIF officials decided to reschedule the doubleheader for Saturday.
The March 22 suspended game between Kaua‘i and Kapa‘a was rescheduled to Wednesday, April 12.
However, if either the first round title is in hand by that time, the game will be scratched.
Kaua‘i holds a 9-5 lead in the second inning of that contest.
The second round of KIF baseball begins on April 15, with Kapa‘a traveling to Waimea to face the Menehune.
The doubleheader action will commence at 10 a.m.
The second game will be aired live on KONG AM570, with “Anahola” Joe.
