  • Some 20,000 pounds of fresh papaya grown on Kaua’i were sold on

    the island in February, down from 40,000 pounds the same month a

    year ago, according to statistics from the U.S. Department of

    Agriculture and state Department of Agriculture. For the first two

    months of this year, Kaua’i papaya sales were 45,000 pounds, down

    from 70,000 pounds for the same two-month period in 2005.
