The Big Island’s unemployment rate was the highest, at 2.5 percent. On Kaua’i, there were just 700 people unemployed in January, with 32,750 people working out of a total civilian labor force of 33,500, according to figures from the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations in a press release.
